    Hello,

    I am trying to install a macro (spd file) for SPSS but I get the following error message.

    'error reading custom dialogue specification'

    The available answer is for PC and I have a mac so could not solve this way.

    Is there a way to fix this?

    Hi Support Member​ 

    Likely, you are installing from a file you don't have permission to, to a location you don't have permissions to. Start by making sure you have permisison to:

    • the *.spd file
    • The paths where Statistics will want to install to.

    Run the "SHOW EXTPATH" command to see these paths for your installation.

     

    Are you on macOS Catalina? Catalina has extra security and may balk at writing to paths within the user's home directory.
