Having one SMP/E environment for every environment will be impossible. We currently have 2 SMP/E environments – one of z/OS Serverpac and one for ISV products.
We have some separate environments for individual products which we treat on their own but the majority is in our two main environments which represent our IPL pack/ZFS set that we send out as a package.

Niklas, we do have a goal to add function to install a portable software instance into an existing software instance, potentially merging target/dlib zones, but I do not have a specific plan for this function at this time. There have been many requests for this function and we do hope to eventually satisfy those requests.

Hello Mr. Quackenbush,
is there a plan to make that possible in the future? I think this would be helpful, because now if you want to add a product and you want that to be in existing zone, you cannot use Software Management at this point and have to take the old fashioned way using jobs.
I am currently investigation on a SMP/E based installation for our products and we have a lot little add-on products (maybe like 70) and came across this "error". Is it intended to really create new zones for every single product? In my opinion as a SMP/E newbie, this would be a lot of work.
Kind regards,
Niklas Herzog

Hello Tahir. During the Deployment you can connect the new target and dlib zone to an existing global zone, but there is no capability to install into existing target and dlib zones. After the deployment you may be able to use the SMP/E ZONEMERGE command to merge the new target/dlib into your existing target/dlib.

Hi All, is it possible to install extra products into existing global zone and in the same target and Dlib zones?
I have installed z/OS 2.5 with z/OSMF and there were some products missing in my initial order. I ordered these products later and now i want to install these missing products into existing z/OS global zone and in the same TARGET and DLIB zones.
Please let me know if it is possible some how, when i start deployment i can not select the same TARGET and DLIB zone.
Kind Regards
Tahir
