  • 1.  SNMP port for virtual datapower

    Posted 04/02/20 09:18 AM
    Hi ,
We have our virtual datapower on AWS cloud. We are using AWS classic load balancer infront of virtual datapower. We need to do SNMP monitoring for our datapower. Since AWS LB allows only TCP traffic , Can we do SNMP monitoring for datapower over TCP port instead of UDP port ?
    Thanks,
    Preeti

    Hi,
do you have a possibility to migrate your classic LB to network load balancer that supports both
    TCP and UDP?

    Hi Hermanni,
We are already in production with these Load Balancers hence client won't agree for changing the Load Balancers type now at this stage . Can we have some workaround with classic loadbalancers to make SNMP work ?

    Thanks,
    Preeti

I think the easiest option would be the update as there are other benefits with a network load balancer
compared to a classic one besides the UDP support.
    https://docs.aws.amazon.com/elasticloadbalancing/latest/userguide/migrate-to-application-load-balancer.html

Other option is to separate SNMP traffic from data traffic (if you haven't already done that), but it might be
a quite big change depending on which DataPower form-factor you are running.

Or maybe SNMP Proxy forwarder might be something that you could use to solve the issue.... But, as said, the migration
seems like the easiest solution even though your client isn't that keen on making changes at this stage.
