Reporting is one of the powerful tools for us in Apptio. But, we face extreme slowness while we try to load reports, even during development. Are there any ways or suggested changes in settings that would improve the performance of my reports?

We have the same issue with our project, you can ask Support or your CSM for a performance report which will tell you exactly what part of your project is causing the issue. 

Some things we've done:

• Updated the calculation settings to close any periods that we're not working on i.e. only have 2018 YTD open to calculations
• If there are multiple look-ups or nested formulas look to streamline these, we had 8 columns each with a lookup to the same data source so we combined the data required so we only need one lookup to pull the data through to the required dataset and then used the split function to populate the 8 columns
• We did a lift & shift upgrade to R12 so had a number of legacy joins, we changed these to the data relationships which reduced our downtime

Yes, we reached out to Apptio Support. We were suggested few steps such as avoiding the use of more than 2 objects in a single report and calculation settings. I posted this question to see whether I can get new insights from the community. 

And as expected, your points 2 & 3 are new to me. Will try implementing them.
