The only difference is that one is on network xxx.xxx.144.xxx which is working and the other
that is not working is on xxx.xxx.145.xxx.
The primary interface for the NIM is on 144, I configured another network using 145.
it works but it is extremely slow. I don't understand because my cards and Port switches
on all 100FD. Is there something else I need to configure on my NIM.
The client and Master on both are using the proper network to communicate because that's how I
configured it, but it's very slow.

Any ideas, And yes did a traceroute and nothing between Master and Client.

    Chapter 7 looks about right.

    Find it at http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg247296.html

It usually means you have one bit of cable running very slowly or HD or similar.

Hope this helps, let us alll know if you work it out, thanks N

    ping serverB 50000--> response 10ms

Also did netstat with no errors and no collisions??

Did tcpdump to my 2 cards on the NIM master
Master_net for network xxx.xxx.144.xxx -->No drop packets by the kernel
Master_net2 for network xxx.xxx.145.xxx -->No drop packets by the kernel

If the response times are the same with ping, why is one network taking much longer than the other one to do NIM operations such as mksysb and preview mode in patch installation.

on the 144 network it is taking 20 minutes to do a mksysb of the client from the NIM
and on the other network I had only backup 250MB in 2 hours so I quit.

I will try doing the mksysb on the client and then ftp to the NIM to see if it is the network
or not. I am not sure if it is a network or a NIM problem.
