SFTP and REST integration with Coupa

  • 1.  SFTP and REST integration with Coupa

If one of your data sources is Coupa Spend Management Suite, here are a couple of links that show promise when it comes to integrating using one of our DataLink technology connectors:

    SFTP: https://success.coupa.com/Integrate/Overview/SFTP_For_Flat_File_Integration

    REST API: https://coupadocs.atlassian.net/wiki/display/integrate/Coupa+API

If somebody tries one of these methods, write back and let us know how it goes!

Thanks Ken, we use it here and will look at testing this in the near future since we currently bring in PO data manually. I'll have @Radha Natarajan let you know how it goes.

I have been requesting Brian Mackenzie and Steven Ellis to look into using the REST connector to import data via exposed API for a couple weeks. Documentation and examples on the REST connector are very thin. :-(

JSON seems to be successfully challenging XML on many fronts as a better means for data interchange.

I would really appreciate more commentary being shared from Apptio on how to use the REST connector.

    Thanks Matt,

I shared with Brian and Steve. I am interested in the optimal connection with Coupa for multiple accounts.

My inquiry wasn't specific to Coupa, but rather the REST connector.

I believe Brian MacKenzie is in contact with the appropriate people to bring into a conversation of the REST connector and in a previous conversation, he indicated that he will be getting a calendar appointment made as soon as possible.  If I understand correctly, this relates to the CMDB at Ticketmaster that is currently in the process of being populated and built.

FYI - This was just posted to provide more guidance on using the REST connector. There's more to come; for example, we need to provide more information on the expected structure of the response payload. One tip is that the JSON should be an array, and the field names should not include spaces or special characters.

@Patricia Dominguez --Patricia, here is information on TBM Connect around Coupa. I'll follow up with an email to you next.

@Ken Haniu - do you know if this requires an additional licence out of Coupa to make the data available? My clients are saying that they need to pay an annual licence for an automated feed from Coupa into Apptio. Is there anyone my clients can talk to about how they got this setup (and whether the licence is needed)? @Steven Ellis @Brian MacKenzie

@Ann Marie Chow, I am not sure about the licensing implications but can connect you with several other customers who are pulling data from Coupa into Apptio. They are welcome to chime in here but I can't post their names without permission, so I'll contact you internally via email.

@Ken Haniu are there any additional guidelines surrounding the Retrieve Additional Fields (Advanced) settings?

Hi Amanda, would you mind re-posting this question on the Coupa Connector Guide (Outdated, click for updated version) thread now that we have a connector for Coupa? We have that one example in the doc on how to use Retrieve Additional Fields field but I understand how it would be difficult to know what syntax to use so if you could provide more details about what you're trying to do, we'll do our best to help.
