John, Sort of...... if your JCL uses a // ASSGN stmt then correct the temp assignment goes away as stated. If your JCL uses an ASSGN (perm assignment - no // ) then that assignment will remain in effect in that partition until another PERM assgn is issues or the system is reipled.

I am assisting in a z/VSE to z/OS conversion and it's been a long time since I used DOS. For the ASSGN statement, the manual states "The job control statement (type JCS) is temporary. It remains in effect only until the next change in assignment or until the end of job, whichever occurs first." However, does the "end of job" in this case mean the next // JOB statement or the /& statement?
