I am using Cognos Analytics and I have reports on a scheduled Jobs that runs Daily. However, there are instances that some reports failed.

Now I have sent a property on the report that will send me an email of the report.

Question: If the report failed to run in the Job will Cognos still send me the Report file or not?

Hi Ram, my experience is that if a report fails from a job that runs and sends the report that you no e-mail is sent.

My team uses Cognos Events to overcome the shortcomings of jobs: each event has 2 standard items at least:

1. The first is a task in the event that runs your job
2. and the second is an e-mail notification for "When the agent or any of its tasks fail" from the task execution rules letting the team know that something failed.

This approach has worked for us better than someone trying to monitor for failed tasks though we still include that as standard procedure for the admin team.

This is something we are aware of and are working on in the lab. In the meantime, the workaround Adrienne posted about is a smart way to achieve the same result. Here is another possible way.

This is also something great to post as an RFE. When we envision new capabilities and enhancements for Cognos, our direction is hugely influenced by the Request For Enhancements (RFE) our users submit. The Cognos Analytics 11.1 release is a great example where we delivered more than 75 RFEs.
