  • 1.  SBSPACE Chunk error

    Posted 11 days ago

    Hello All,

We are working on IDS 14.10 and yesterday we created SBSPACES everything was fine, but we are getting multiple alerts for SBSPACE chunks down. But in real chunks are ONLINE.  After SBSPACE Full backup didn't run. I'm sharing the screenshot for related to my Queries.

     Onconfig -

    Chunk Status

Associate Raw devices have proper privilege and ownership

    Online.log

    Table creation using subspace.

    Error/Warning:

Can someone please let me know, why these alerts are coming and how to overcome from these issues? Could this be backup skipped yesterday or other issue?

    Kindly Assist.

    Thanks

    Amit Patel

    Hi
please check the flags for onstat -d output here:
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/informix-servers/14.10.0?topic=utility-onstat-d-command-print-chunk-information

    "Why these alerts are coming"?

Informix Server does not send out any alerts per email per default.
But maybe you have an active
    ALARMPROGRAM       $INFORMIXDIR/etc/alarmprogram.sh
    which has send the email?

    Amit:

You are showing the permissions and owner/group on the symbolic links. They do not count, you have to look at the permissions on the actual /dev devices that they point to! Just add the "-L" flag to the ls to see the permissions and owner and group of the target devices. Likely those permissions are not correct. They may have been correct when you created the sbspaces, but after a reboot many systems recreate those /dev device files with default privs.
