  • 1.  Save to file system suddenly failing

    All of a sudden all our reports (bursted & non-bursted) are not saving to the file system.
    We are getting the following messages:

    CNC-DS-0026 Error while processing the report outputs : CNC-DS-0022 Cannot retrieve the canonical path for '\\<server name>\<file save location>\<File Save Folder>\<Report Name-en-us'.CNC-DS-0022 Cannot retrieve the canonical path for  '\\<server name>\<file save location>\<File Save Folder>\<Report Name-en-us'

    RSV-DST-0014 Unable to deliver the output of the report. See the run history details for more information. Ensure that the required services are started. Ensure that the user account is configured to distribute the output in the requested manner.

    As far as I know our Production Cognos is unchanged (our lower SDLC environments work without issue).
    We have tried restarting Cognos services without luck.
    Any thoughts as to cause would be greatly appreciated.

    Functionality to save to file system must take a while after Cognos restart to become fully active.
    We can now run some reports as needed.

    However, and I don't know why, some bursted reports with long file names are still failing.
    The long file names are created by the burst criteria

    It seems that all save to file system reports are now failing again with the same messages.

    Just as a silly idea .... is there still enough space on the corresponding hard disk? In the event of a Java crash, Cognos likes to generate huge amounts of large dumpfiles that clog everything up.

    Must be checked for potential issues. Make sure your system has sufficient space; additionally, verify the file path.

    Hi Adam,

    Did you update your anti-virus? A new one or a new "aggressive" virus definition...

    Do you try to save to a "brand new disk" or is it an existing disk? You seems to be using Windows, did you play with fsutil (for more information even if it is not related: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/informix-content-store-failing-install-when-performing-easy-install-ibm-cognos-analytics-11)

    Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions.

    This was resolved with the help of IBM.

    There is a known bug in CA 11.1.7 (resolved in one fix pack ahead of us - FP7) where saving to the file system fails after so many files due to a higher Windows Version on the file share (Windows 19 - just upgraded this past weekend from Windows 12) and the Cognos Servers (Windows 16).

    PH45344 SAVING SCHEDULED REPORT TO EXTERNAL FILE SYSTEM FAILING WITH &quot;CN C-DS-0022 CANNOT RETRIEVE THE CANONICAL PATH FOR&quot; WHEN CA IS INS

    For now, we have reverted the file share server to Windows 12.
    And now bring on our Cognos CA 12.0.1 upgrade project and parallel Windows Upgrade project!
