Reports triggered from Event Schedule not sending emails

  • 1.  Reports triggered from Event Schedule not sending emails

    Cognos ​11.0.13.1

    Client has an Event scheduled that then triggers another event. The second event triggers a Job. The job has several reports that send emails. When he manually executes the Master Event the emails are sent. When the Master Event is triggered by the schedule everything appears to run successfully in the Admin console - Master event, second event, job, and then reports are all success. But no reports are emailed.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi Brenda,

    Is there any message in the Past Activities regarding the emails? 

    I'll try to reproduce this today based off of your description.

    Thanks Trevor. For a bit more info. We removed the double layer of Events so that the first event triggered the job directly and still the emails were not sent when the event was scheduled. And still the event and job and report said successful in the Admin console. The client says that they tried events that triggered reports directly, and still no emails. The client also said that they tried writing the reports to the file system instead of emails and the files were not written to the file system. But everything works as it should when the event is manually executed.

    Hi Brenda,
    Can you try scheduling from Event Studio itself vs the properties of the Agent?

    The problem exists in v11.0.11 as well. The solutions that work are 1) create a schedule within the agent definition and not from properties (as suggested by Trevor) and 2) add the agent to a job and schedule the job.

    When you reference the agent, are you referring to the report or the event?

    Agent is what we create using event studio; I was referring to the event.

    ​This did seem to work for us. We added the schedule in Event Studio to the agent and it is now working. I say "seem to work" only because we also removed the schedule from the job that the agent was executing and then edited the job properties to verify each report output. So not sure exactly what nudged it to start working. But we do have it working. Thanks.
