  • 1.  Report table R12 'As Tree'

    Posted Tue February 13, 2018 10:13 AM

I'm I going mad, In R11 ETBMA we created a report table with 'as tree' structure but kept the columns expanded. In R12 reporting I cannot work out how to do this, 'as tree' drops to a single column. . . how do i stop this and expand the columns but maintain dynamic collapsing rows - I'm aiming for the excel 'Classic pivot' type feel if the prior is unclear. Any thoughts?

    Hey Will!

What you will probably need to do is do a "Subtotal" rather than an "As Tree."  The feature is located to the left of the "As Tree" button on the data tab.

For example, here is my data as "As Tree":

And here it is Subtotaled by my column "App Family"

    Hope this helps!

HI @Molly Meinert I did try this but i needed the Rows to collapse because there could be many hundreds of results in a given category. What I was after is a hybrid of both of the pictures above. I wanted the Row functionality like the tree but the columns to stay apart like the subtotal. My columns were software e.g Manufacturer - Product - version --->>> Microsoft - Word - Sp1 2010.

The rows would then expand when clicked so that you could see on which machines this existed, the columns would be shown to offer the user filter options. I managed to get the layout correct but lost the row expansion.

Ah that is a dilemma!  I'm not sure how to get around that in r12 unfortunately.  I remember being able to do what you described before in r11, but we've had to make due with the new "As Tree" function in the reports.

Would it make sense to add slicers instead?  That's what we've done to get around not being able to filter in the table itself.  It obviously doesn't get you exactly what you envisioned, but should work to allow you to filter however you'd like.

    Hope that helps!
