What are the proper steps in replacing failed HD using the DIAG RAID Manager

    Example something like this

    1. IDENTIFY DEVICE ATTACHED TO SCSI HOT SWAP ENCLOSURE DEVICE

    2. Create an Array Candidate pdisk and Format to 522 Byte Sectors

    3. Reconstruct a PCI-X SCSI Disk Array
Question: do I need make the new HD an Array Candidate pdisk and Format to 522 Byte Sectors or does this happen went I execute Reconstruct a PCI-X SCSI Disk Array

When adding that new disk microcode of the RAID adapter automatically will format and configure th new disk as a candidate and recontruct the RAID. Best recomendation is to configure your array so one disk is a hot spare one, this way when a disk crash occurs the microcode automatically will replace the failed one with the spare and when new disk is installed it will become the new hot spare.

    Hope this helps
