  • 1.  Release notes for client TP configuration

    Posted Tue March 29, 2022 06:55 PM
    Hi All,
Looking for ideas on where/how in Targetprocess an implementation consultant can create a Release Notes section to post configuration changes per the client request(s)?

This use case comes from a client's request to log any TP configuration changes during their implementation so that post-implementation -- after the consultants move on -- the client can review to support the system.

Unless there is a log of config changes that system admins can access?  Years ago as a PeopleSoft consultant I recall running configuration reports that flagged elements that had been customized and provided some details.

Seems feasible to use Epic/Feature/Story construct but do not want to confuse the client during a SAFe implementation -- i.e. want to ensure it doesn't get mixed into the client's data.

    Thoughts welcome!

    Hi Tom,
We have set up something for this within TP. We used the Request entity type which is used for people to send in tickets to the customer internal TP support team. The support team processes these tickets. For those tickets which would be candidate for release notes, we created a specific custom field on Request that allows to document the information that would need to go in release notes.
Based on this info the support team regularly composes a release note document.

The support team is a separate Team within TP and we also created a separate Project/Solution to include the support team's items. This allows to use filtering to show relevant info and also avoid mixing with other data.

    Best regards,
    Arno van Herk, Synergio.

    Hi Tom,

In addition to what Arno suggested, you can consider using Action Item entity to track the changes which are made to the system. Action Item States can indicate what is planned and what's already been implemented.

    Best regards,
