    That depends upon what you mean by "reference". You can reference the map in other map source files where it will appear as read-only. You can refer an executable map. When you use the Functional map wizard there's also a Reference option.

    Then you think wrong :).
    Look in the functional map wizard. Next to the button Create you have a button Reference.
    Of course the referenced maps must have the same input and output types.
