In 004010 the REF seg is a choice group and in the 005010 the REF is Unordered group.There are more than 15 occurances in the X12 data and only 9 occurances(0:9) in the output XMl data so how can I figure out which 9 occurances should I map.I cant write a functional map since the unordered group is one occurance(0:1) and all the REF seg within it are also (0:1)

    Can I make the changes to the standard X12 tree?

    Are the XML ref segments defined based on certain REF segment qualifiers? I am not sure, but there are probably REF segment qualifiers that are no longer in 5010 version. If that is the case you could use EXTRACT and specify the ref.01 values that are in 5010 to map only those 4010 ref segments.
