can someone please tell me if I can safely disable a cas_agent which I suppose would only be needed if I would use IBM System Director (I have no such product).

Can someone advice about cas_agent and its processess running on AIX by default?

I think it is related to "error" during boot, when it says "trying to stop some LWI nonstop profile..." or something like that (it is causing some annoying boot delay).,

Yes, if will not use System Director Agent/System you can unninstall it once the system doesn't need anything from this fileset, here is the follow:

    /opt/ibm/director/bin/diruninstall

This will uninstall Common and Platform agent + Director Server if installed on system.

You will need also uninstall other filesets that will remain on system that also don't need to be present anymore such as:

artex.base.agent and vios.agent.rte (if VIOS environment).

    Than, after, uninstall:

    cas.agent
    sysmgt.com.*providers*
    sysmgt.cimserver.pegasus.rte
    tivoli.tivguid

    Hope it helps,
