Recommended upgrade from Tamino version 4.1.4 to 4.2.1

  • 1.  Recommended upgrade from Tamino version 4.1.4 to 4.2.1

    Posted Thu July 08, 2004 11:49 AM

I’m about to upgrade from Tamino version 4.1.4 to 4.2.1. What’s the recommend way of doing it? I don’t need to have a database on the previous version.

    Should I?

    1. Uninstall Tamino version 4.1.4 (leaving the database), install version 4.2.1 and then upgrade the database from 4.1.4 to 4.2.1 using the Tamino Manager (will I be able to do that, since 4.1.4 is no longer installed)?

    or

2.Install version 4.2.1, upgrade the database from 4.1.4 to 4.2.1 using the Tamino Manager and then uninstall 4.1.4 afterwards? This usually gives a problem since it uninstalls the IIS integration (both with Tamino and webDAV), and I then need to establish it again.

    Many regards from Ole

    Hi,

since it doesn’t do any harm, I’d suggest to leave the 4.1 installation on the machine and just install 4.2 in parallel. You keep all the options of upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2 and - perhaps important in some cases - to recreate databases from 4.1-backups.

I always leave the older Tamino versions nearby, you never know when you’ll need them. Since you cannot install 4.1 after 4.2 you avoid a lot of extra work this way.

    Best regards, Andreas
