  • 1.  Recommended Canvas Page Size and Layout Positioning settings

    Hi All

    We are developing a PAW asset which is to be deployed to multiple clients, each probably having different monitors, screen resolutions etc.
    What Dashboard Property settings  would you recommend in order to preserve screen layout and positioning of objects on the canvas irrespective of the client we deploy to ?



    Layout Positioning - Relative or Absolute ?
    Page Size - There are multiple presets to choose from in the drop down menu. 
    Width and height settings if you use Custom 
    Fit to Page - On or off ? 

    In terms of the template is there anyone you would recommend in particular out of these two options ?

    Hi Armand,

    I could recommend the setting for your display while developing the books as it gives the better and more consistent results (Windows):
    Also, I'd suggest testing the books with both OS prior to the deployment: Windows and Mac, we use the shared screen sessions and able to see where the scrolls are appearing making adjustments as we go over the page layout. The issue is due to the font spacing. You could search for the font to be used on the book that is behaving more consistently regarding spacing and use that.

    Font size to use for the text related items is usually good to set between 12 to 16.

    The templates that you are pointing out would give you different results on adding the widgets to the book tabs, so it depends what the intention behind the design is.

    Armand, the templates you shown would work differently for the important widgets: cube views and websheets; if in the first template with the sloid line the widgets will be added in a relatively small portion of the page, then in the second template with the dotted border, the view or a websheet would be using the most of the space - that would save the user a few clicks on the adjustment of the widget. So you could use the second template for the Ad-hoc work on the cube view/websheet as an example.
    The rest of the templates would allow you to develop the dashboards of the pre-designed layout and would allow snap the widgets to the grids.
