    Those new RAID adapters does not work with RAID1 anymore, instead they use new RAID10 definitions (mirroring and stripping). If you have just 2 disks then the RAID device will behave the same as a RAID1 (mirroring), if you have 3 or more then the adapter microcode will first stripp and the mirror the resulting stripes of data.
