we plan to use XQuery as a reporting tool for Tamino. I just wonder if running Quip from Tamino Extension could improve performances ?

Potentially it could, but that would require coding against the Server Extension interfaces instead of issuing HTTP requests, which would imply a different architecture. Don’t expect too much performance gain from merely bypassing the Web server.
Real efficiency improvements will come from XQuery implemented within the Tamino Server.
