Reading that daily (and hourly) data is stored in a different format and separate from Apptio data.  The reports are built on an object called dbr_daily, which can be found in the tables of TBM Studio, but you can't see the data in TBM Studio (ref.Cloud Daily/Hourly Reports - Extending or Changing (12.5 and earlier)).

How is that calculated when all other data loads and reports are based on a monthly format?  Is there just some logic in the background that gets a sum total of all daily details per subscription/account?  How does that work exactly?

Also interested to know this. I was trying to build some of my own reports but wasn't sure how to actually use dbr_daily to get the daily information as it all looked blank (even though the daily reports were being lit up)

All calculations are completed in the pre-processor.  The dbr_daily table is essentially a massive table that exists outside of studio.  That is why Dev/Stg/Prod are updated simultaneously once the pre-processor has completed.  The way I think about it is that the reporting surface queries this dataset for reports.  For totals, it is using each individual line for summing.  Each line can be one cent or ten dollars.  When you pivot it in Daily Transparency (report) it sums on the fly.
