  • 1.  Question about importing into SPSS from SAS

    Posted Thu September 15, 2022 10:03 AM
    Hello community,

I am a researcher utilizing data provided to me by an external organization. This data was stored in .sas7bdat and .sas7bndx formats. I imported these files into SPSS. I am currently using version 28. In my experience the import has gone smoothly, no issues and the data looks relatively complete.

However, a colleague mentioned there might be a concern with data loss and I am not sure how to go about verifying this or troubleshooting this issue.

So the question I pose to the community here is, how much of a concern is this and how could I troubleshoot this.

Thank you in advance for any feedback!

Hi.  I don't think it's much of a concern, but that's a hypothesis you can test.

In SAS, open the SAS dataset and run descriptive statistics on the numeric variables. Then, go back to SPSS and do the same thing.  Of course, the answers should be the same.
