Pushing an app and using a dynamic value to pull device name [Settings > General > About] into app.

  • 1.  Pushing an app and using a dynamic value to pull device name [Settings > General > About] into app.

My client is trying to push the LanguageLine App to their iOS devices.

We've recommended a number different dynamic variables, but none of them work.

$DEVICE_NAME$ they are saying this one does not work but why?

    Please help, thank you

    Hi Anthony

There's no simple solution to this to my knowledge.

I suggest you raise a Support ticket for investigation as we would need more information and context.

    Best regards

    Good Morning:

I recommend using the standard app distribution workflow in MaaS360:

    1. Add the app to the MaaS360 App Catalog

      • If Apple Business Manager (ABM) is configured: "Purchase" the app in ABM and it will sync automatically into the MaaS360 dashboard.

      • If ABM is not configured: Add the app manually in the MaaS360 App Catalogue dashboard under APPS → Add → iTunes App Store App (e.g., Language Line).

    2. Distribute the app to devices from the App Catalog. You can do this by:

      • Creating an app distribution group (for multiple devices)

      • Selecting All Devices

      • Selecting specific device(s)

(Note: Ensure any whitelisting or home screen configurations are updated to allow the app to appear.)

    3. Installation behavior:

      • With ABM + auto-install enabled, the app will install automatically with little or no user action.

      • Without ABM, users will be prompted to enter their Apple ID credentials to complete the installation.
