Propensity Score Matching Nominal and Scale Variables match tolerance

  • 1.  Propensity Score Matching Nominal and Scale Variables match tolerance

    Hello,

I am using the propensity score matching tool and will include both nominal and scale variables as predictors. I want an exact match for the nominal variables and a match tolerance of 5 for the scale variable AGE. How do I input these match tolerance parameters in the PSM tool? When I put values in the match tolerance box I am unsure how to specify which match tolerance goes with what variable.

PSM uses probabilities from a logistic regression to define the matching eligibility.  If you want to control eligibility variable by variable, use the Case Control Matching option (further down on the Data menu).  With that procedure, you set the tolerance for each variable, so you would just set the tolerance to zero for categorical variables and 5 for the AGE variable.

The fuzz factors are listed in the order that you list the variables.
