  • 1.  Profile creation fails

    Posted Mon October 12, 2020 05:06 PM

I install WebSphere 8.5.5.18 from Passport Advantage on a Windows 10 Laptop. The product installs successfully. Then I go to create Profile. It is giving me an error, 'Profile Creation Failed'

    C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\logs\manageprofiles\AppSrv01_create

    file has the following errors

Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\bin\EARExpander.bat (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)

I have rebooted the machine and tried to no avail.

Do you have local administrator rights on the laptop? If WAS was installed in the Program Files directories, the default location of the profiles will be under that directory and not writable if you are not admin.

If you don't have admin, can you create the profile in a location that does not require admin access?

I do have admin rights and was running the PMT tool as admin. I am trying to install WebSphere in another directory to see what difference is it making. I will update. Thanks.

I am not sure what the problem is/was. They say it could be the anti-virus running on the machine. In my case, I had to install it under C:\IBM and give 'Full Control' to 'Users' to that directory and the directories under there. You could also try installing is under C:\Users\username\IBM instead of installing under 'Program Files'.
