Process - Battery Replacements at Apple - DEP Devices

I have always had issues with "Clear Activation Lock" and "Find My iPhone" when I try to get a battery replacement processed at Apple.

For a lengthy time, I would try to "Clear Activation Lock" and it would not clear properly on the device, the device was still locked to the MDM even though it was physically signed out of Find My iPhone on the device.  I have had to sign out of Find My iPhone on the device, wipe and even disown iPhones from the MaaS360 to get battery replacements. This made replacing device batteries extremely time consuming so I also had to setup loaner devices for the users.

January 13, 2020 was the FIRST night I have been able to go to Apple, properly sign out of Find My iPhone and get a battery replaced at Apple WITHOUT having to wipe a device.

I am wonder if others have had issues with signing out of Find My iPhone and if MaaS360 have resolved this issue for good.

More information shared on this topic and on how other companies deal with signing out for support at Apple would be extremely helpful to me.
