In WAS 7 we are creating the datasource, it display's all the steps till completion for creating the datasource when we try to save the configuration it is not saving the master configuration. can we do directly edit the xml file(it saves only in one xml or multiple xml files) and save it & test the connection from WAS console . could you please suggest. In log file no error is displaying.

  Is not recommended edit directly xml files (is not only one xml file). You need to do using adminconsole or wsadmin.
 
  How do you know that is not saving your master configuration? when you click finish, don't you have a message to save the configuration?
 
  Have you adminconsole security enabled?
 
  You need to solve first why is not saving your configuration, before test connection.
