    Posted Mon June 26, 2017 04:08 AM

    Hello All,

    I have created primary and copy pool both are LTO. now I have to setup a backup stgpool from primary to copy this is a list of primary and copy pool not able to understand how to setup this so that reclamation should also work and backup of pool also work.

    these are daily, weekly and monthly pool.

    Primary storage pool        Copy storage pool
    DYTVEDSKPP01         -> DYGENLTOCP01
    DYGENLTOPP01        -> DYGENLTOCP01
    WKGENLTOPP01        -> WKGENLTOCP01
    MNGENLTOPP01        -> MNGENLTOCP01

    Hi,

    Make a admin schedule with these commands:

    And replace reclaim threshold to your likings.  It is not an absoulute solution, but should be enough to get you started.  More info about number of TB ingested, and number of drives available  would help to tune the script

    upd stg DYGENLTOCP01 recla=0

    upd stg WKGENLTOCP01 recla=0

    upd stg MNGENLTOCP01 recla=0

    copy stg DYTVEDSKPP01 DYGENLTOCP01 wait=yes

    copy stg DYGENLTOPP01 DYGENLTOCP01wait=yes

    copy stg WKGENLTOPP01  WKGENLTOCP01 wait=yes
    copy stg MNGENLTOPP01  MNGENLTOCP01 wait=yes

    upd stg DYGENLTOCP01 recla=65

    upd stg WKGENLTOCP01 recla=65

    upd stg MNGENLTOCP01 recla=65

    Hi,

    Thanks for the response I have 2 things to ask one is as I said I have daily weekly and monthly copy pool so do I have to trigger a admin schedule everyday from above command and another is the reply of your query I have overall 9 TB of data which will transfer with 2 drives Ibm 3100 library reclamation of stgpool is 100% and reuse delay is 3 days. In that case also this command will suffice I believe we have to update the reclaim % also .

    Hi,

    With two tape drives, you can do either:

    Commit data to disk first, then backup that to tape  for each week/month and so on.  With this, you can use maxproc=2 when sending data to copy pool.

    If data is committed directly to LTO, then you will need about 20 hours to copy 9Tb of data.  That leaves you with 4 hours to do reclaim and backup of TSM db.

    I would think a manual (as in scheduled command) reclaim task is you best option.  Leave stg at 100% recla TH, and script:

    recla stg XXX1 th=65 dur=60 wait=yes

    recla stg XXX2 th=65 dur=60 wait=yes

    Hi,

    You should send back to disk first.  Otherwise, you need to buy more drives.

    Hi,

    If I remove the reclamation and just use backup of stgpool will that help actually I am sort of issue can't send that data to disk. but my question is why SQL tdp backup is working which is also going on, on the same stgpool.
