Previous User of SPSS on my PC

  • 1.  Previous User of SPSS on my PC

    I signed up for the free trial version of SPSS, but found out that I couldn't install it on my Windows PC as apparently, it has been installed before. I was wondering if I could get some information regarding when was this installation, as I recently bought this PC from a shop, and it is supposed to be brand new. Alternatively, is there any other plausible reason as to why I get the error message that SPSS has been installed on this PC even though I'm the only user and this is the first time I've done so?

    If you provide your IBM ID you used to register for the trial we could find your machine and who else used this machine for the trial before. with ___Jon I cannot find you on trial database, sorry.

    In general: the trial can only be used once by one user on the same machine within 365 days

    Hi Bettina,

    Thanks for the prompt response. I used my e-mail address as my IBM ID. Just wondering if you could see this information on your end? I don't feel comfortable posting it on a public forum. My apologies for the hassle.

    Best Regards,

    Jonathan

    Hello

    I found your e-mail now. With your subscription ID

    crn:v1:bluemix:public:aspservice-service:global:a/84b2dda536c7482599379b0d3faa8522:6fa17a29-1d93-4cc5-9134-67224433552f::

    we see you have installed on Mac machine on 22. October 2020 and your trial is valid until 21. November 2020

    The Mac machine has a unique ID of   SN:C1MV67YGJ1WK UUID:2D5DE68A-7145-5A84-AE22-094724373252

    It was not used before by any other user. So all should be fine with your trial on this machine

    Hi Bettina,

    Yup, I borrowed a Mac and installed it on there. But I tried to install it on my Windows PC but wasn't able to do so as I get an error stating that there was a prior installation, even though the PC is supposed to be new and I'm the only user on it. I was wonder if you help me figure out why this is the case for my Windows PC.

    The trial can only be used on one machine at a time. it is activated on your mac. If you want to change machines you need to do this on https://myibm.ibm.com/dashboard/

    Click on manage button on the Statistics subscription trial tile and then go to manage devices and deactivate your Mac. Then you can install it on your Windows machine if this was never used before for the trial in the last 365 days

    Hi Bettina,

    Thanks for your prompt response. I am aware of the one machine limit, and only installed it on a borrowed Mac after multiple failed attempts on my Windows PC. I've just deactivated the Mac access, and tried to activate SPSS on my Windows PC again, but still failed. Hence I was wondering if you could provide some information as to why this is the case.

    I've noticed on a previous post (https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/s/question/0D50z00006PsCtI/sorry-you-have-already-used-an-ibm-spss-statistics-subscription-trial-on-this-machine?language=fi) that you were able to provide another user with information on when was SPSS previous used on their PC. I was wondering if you could do the same for mine? If it is indeed the case that SPSS has been installed on my PC before, it would mean that it is not brand new, and I can take this up with the retailer.

    Thank you for your patience with my issue. I appreciate it.

    I deleted the activation on your mac machine.

    Your Windows machine has another unique ID:

    GUID:c7b2cd5e-04a4-4d70-84da-95eaf4f62cde

    And indeed this Windows 10 machine already had the trial on it. It was activated on 20. July 2020 on the Windows 10 machine for a user with the Subscription ID below:

    crn:v1:bluemix:public:aspservice-service:global:a/a14f61f604f540468da723bcab2b585e:1929d505-da91-4e03-84c9-c5b77432c68b::

    The computername is misteraiz and the user who activated it there has an e-mail like the below where it is anonymized

    So this Windows machine was used already for the trial, sorry. You cannot use it again until one year is over.
