  • 1.  PowerShare Application to create views for Datasets

Is anyone using PowerShare to create views that will be used to create a dataset for a Cognos Dashboard in version 11.0.11?  I am seeing performance issues.

    Thanks-Jenifer

    Hi @Jenifer Broughton,

Would you be able to give us more details about the PowerShare application you are using? Also, if you can share which version of Cognos you are benchmarking the performance issues with, along with any metrics (eg: number of seconds it used to be before and now, etc), it will help us analyze your issue better.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Mohammed,

    Thank you for the reply.

    PowerShare information:
    InformEnt PowerShare Information manager
    Version 9.2 Build 170502 Fix Pack 5 Patch 0

Powershare is used to create the Package used in Cognos Business Analytics (11.0.11).  We just upgraded from 11.0.9 2 weekends ago.  We are finding this issue much more apparent in the 11.0.11.

I've created a a PowerShare view that has several joined tables with filters applied and several derived/caluclated fields  (approx. 20,000 rows).  This view gets published to the Package and I use it to create a more efficient Dashboard.  However, I get error messages sporadically when navigating the graphs (or even when just opening the dashboard).  The dashboard has several tabs that use the same dataset one tab may work fine while the next tab does not.  I have tested in several instances where if I change the graph type to something different it will work then I change the graph type back to the original type and it then works.   I can't pinpoint seconds because sometimes it's happens upon opening the dashboard, other times it's a 1-3 seconds.

    Thanks for any insight!
    Jen
