I just have a new power7 machine. I am not using virtualisation yet (hoepfully very soon) but I am creating new lpar standalone AIX 6.1
My issue is about SAS Disk never use it in the past.

so on Power5 when I create a new LPAR I allocate the SCSI but here on the Power7 I see the following:

    RAID CONTROLLER - location Unixtx-P2-T3
    PCI-E x8 Ext Dual-x4 3Gb SAS Adapter - location Unitx-P1C1
    PCI-E x8 Ext Dual-x4 3Gb SAS Adapter - location Unitx-P2-C9-T1
    PCI-E x8 Ext Dual-x4 3Gb SAS Adapter -location Unitx-P2-C9-T2

what are the differences and which one contains the internal disks (hdisk) ?

    Thanks a lot in advance
    Al.

For redundancy, you'd likely want to have one SAS adapter from each of two different drawers.

This link is for the location codes on the CEC:
