Hi,
I would say: no. the only stuff that can be tied to roles are new items of the glass UI like homepage, themes, global parameters but not old Cognos 10 styles.

Hi Robert - Thank you for your responses. Can it be set for a specific set of users or role?

Hi Aditya,
if you want to switch to an existing style that is part of the installation, you just have to add it (by copying anoher one) in your administration console - if it's missing. The only things you have to supply are the folder name and the name of the preview.htm.
You then can set it as the default style in the Secury section here:

Hi Robert- Thank you for your response and apologies for my delayed response. It looks like the portal page default skin (style) is Corporate. How can i simply switch that to Classic Style without modifying the default.css file.

Hi Aditya,
these old Cognos 10 styles are managed in the Cognos Administration and with files on the Cognos server. Go to Manage -> Administration console... and navigate to the Styles section below the Configuration. If you want to create a new one just copy the corporate style or you can modifiy it in place.

The files for the styles are located on your Cognos server in ..\webcontent\skins and ..\webcontent\bi\skins (path depends on how you access Cognos).
You will find many folders and files below each style (skin) which can be modified.
Look at the code of the preview.htm and you'll see that there are two important CSS files to be modified: portal\default.css and fragments\portlet.css. We used to modifiy the first one only. All changes can be seen with the preview.htm immediately.
Good luck.
I think there once was a theme designer app you could also use but I don't know if it's still available.
