    Vijay,

Did you mean to attach an actual poll, or are you just looking for comments and experiences? Thanks!

    Hi,

We have an environment where we use cloud container pools with Cleversafe object storage across three sites. Initially, backup performance was poor, but this was greatly improved by introducing a directory storage pool (on V5K storage) to act a backup cache area between the Spectrum Protect server and Cleversafe.

We implemented the cloud containers before it became mandatory to have directory cache in place.

We also had to perform some tweaking to get the local cache to cloud transfer process to work properly.

Overall, the backups seems to working ok. Restore performance is acceptable.

The main issue we have is with node replication for DR. Since we are unable to use "PROTECT STGPOOL" on cloud container pools to replicate the deduplicated data at the storage pool level, we have to perform traditional node replication where all of the deduplicated data is re-inflated and replicated to the secondary Spectrum Protect server, where it is deduplicated again and stored back down to Cleversafe in a local vault. The node replication performance is poor and we are currently investigating options to improve this.

    Regards

    Darren

    Hi Darren ,

Thanks for sharing your experience and this would help other customers while planning for cloud containers. I'll look into issue you have mentioned , if we are able to overcome it.

    Thanks and regards,

    Vijay
