    Hi Saleem,

J2EE Connector architecture (J2C) authentication alias can be used to provide the credentials required for access to systems like Databases, Queue Manager (MQ), Mail providers,....is a way to configure a user/password in Websphere and then link with the connector (datasource, connection factory,....)

For example when you configure a Datasource, you can create a J2C authentication alias to be used by this datasource to connect to database.

      For learning websphere:

      The oficial path:
      New to WebSphere
      www.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/new...

I think that you can start with education is free and very good starting point:
       publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/ieduas...

Also have the all the information of the products in infocenters:
       www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=s...

Redbooks (practical approach to products, with examples and screens):
       www.redbooks.ibm.com/portals/websphere

       For technical articles:
       www.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/

       For support:
       www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/Ove...

and for questions and so on...Global WebSphere Communitty, linkedind, facebook, ....

    hope this helps.
