Folks, I am developing a demo for a client on Planning Analytics on the cloud. I have been encountering some issues and was hoping someone can help me.

    (1) Portions of the view keep "disappearing". My env: Windows Edge browser, Windows Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134. I refresh it and it occasionally comes back, occasionally not. Deleting and recreating the view helps, but the problem seems to re-occur.

    (2) I need to create a "cube" with input settings to enter for a fiscal model. By default, everything shows as a number. How do I format certain values to be strings? How do I create a picklist of items to select from in certain cases, as such values? I have created a Pick List member attribute but I cannot find instructions in docs on what to enter in that field.

    (3) In my Rules window, is it possible to store some "constants" at the top of the script? If so, what is the format for doing that?

Any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated!

    Hi Shubho

Regarding 1. Does this happen when you select a cell in the view? if so it could be related to the template (or lack of template) you have used for the book/tab. If you select one of the templates that have more than one box you are not likely to experience this.

Regarding 2. The property of the element you want have as string values must be string. It can either be the element itself or a measure element to handle string values. Then the dimension containing the string element must be the last dimension in your cube.
The picklist functionality can either be set up through the picklist attribute or a picklist cube. You can read about picklist here: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SS9RXT_10.2.2/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm1_dg_dvlpr.10.2.2.doc/c_creatingpicklists_123456.html

Regarding 3. I'm not sure what the use case for having a constant in a rule is, but unlike a TI process, it is not possible to store a constant directly in the rule (as far as I know). I would use a support/assumption cube which I would reference in my rule.

You may want to revisit the admin/developer class 'IBM Planning Analytics: Design and Develop Models in Architect (v2.0) SPVC' to refresh some of these topics.

Hi Jasper, Thanks for your reply.

    (1) happened with a dimension that has about 100 attributes grouped into a hierarchy. I did not use a template. It happened in a Windows Edge / Windows 10 environment. The bottom part of the dimension occasionally blanks out, It reappears when I close off the hierarchy (parent node) and reopen it.

I am seeing one other pretty repeatable issue in this environment. A copy and paste of values into a table "remembers" the previous copy. I have to press paste twice to paste the data.

Let me know if I should not be using Windows Edge.

Thanks for your other responses. I will look into the Pick List tutorial. Also, I am okay with constants being stored into their own cube - I was just curious about the other option.

Hello - did you ever find a solution to the copy/paste issue?

Could you also advise on the syntax of "loading" a cube from another cube, but summarizing across one of the dimensions? Or let me know which tutorial would cover it?

    E.g., Cube A - Dims 1, 2, 3, 4

    Cube B - Dims 1, 2, 3

Summarize across Dim 4 when loading into Cube B.

Jasper, Thanks for pointing me to the right place for picklists! That was most helpful. Regards, Shubho
