    Hello everyone,

Just a quick note to express my dismay and frustration at the (non-)developments at TM1.
It's true that Planning Analytics is constantly being maintained and modified, with evolutions to the workspace which, while they certainly please most people, lose many others with changes to functionalities, back-and-forths and ergonomic changes. It's impossible, for example, to produce user documentation with a lifespan of more than a few months.
When I talk about TM1 not evolving, I'm talking about new features that you'd expect, if only to fight the competition and modernize the product, as if TM1 were maintained in a status-quo and everything was done in the workspace's "appearance".
To illustrate my point, I'm talking about Turbo integrator, which still can't read excel or xml/xsd or Json files, and remains hopelessly confined to Sql, TM1 and tabular files (hard to compete with the competition!). I'm talking about TM1, which still can't handle dates (apart from a transcription between Date string and serial number).
It's true that Planning Analytics is magic in terms of volume, performance, speed and response times, but if it doesn't evolve its "TM1" aspects, it will be increasingly difficult to stand comparison with its challengers, who are themselves evolving.

I just had to express my feelings.....

I wish you all a very happy festive season.
    Kind regards,
    Philippe

I think someone may have stolen all those features we so badly wished for...

It is the silly season to be fair. On a serious note though, valid points and I keep voting in the hope that these new features do get added and not only added into v12/TM1 Engine but many back-ported into v11 too.

    Hi Philippe,

Thanks for sharing your feelings. In my humble opinion, IBM has made the decision to incrementally improve things so the chose stability above all else. This seems to prevent them from making dramatic improvements to catch up to their competition. In our organization, we have already moved to PowerBI for reporting. While I'm a big fan of TM1, once there is a writeback-enabled PowerBI capability at scale, our organization will likely move towards it....and I don't think we're alone.
