    as far as I know (I had to ask our Oracle Gurus myself) this is not Mercator specific.

    The Oracle Optimizer uses this Table to handle it's "explain Plans", or to store the Data gathered in Table statistics, just to make your DB-Operations more effective... something like that.
    If you need futher Info, I think you should ask an Oracle Guy rather than a Mercator Mapper.
