PAx "Incorrect parameter count" error message?

  • 1.  PAx "Incorrect parameter count" error message?

    Hi all,

While redesigning our perspectives workbooks to be compatible with PAx, I encountered a surprising behavior of the TI buttons.

When defining the TI process name and parameter values from an excel range, the new TI button requires the same number of parameter values as the TI process has.

If the range is smaller then the number of TI parameters, I'm getting the "Incorrect parameter count" error message.

In the good, old Perspectives, in a case when the TI name and TI parameter values were not hardcoded but pulled from a defined range, it was not required to set all parameter values in the range.

If a TI process had three parameters and the provided range was only 1x1 (we providing only the first parameter value), then the TI button executed the process using the default values of the two, remaining parameter.

    Use cases:

    • If the last parameter were only optional (i.e., debug options), then it was not required to provide their values in the range
    • In case the TI process was used in 20 workbooks, but we redesigned it by introducing an additional parameter at the end, the TI buttons were still working. I such a case it was not required to touch the workbooks and buttons because they always took the default parameter value.

Is this behavior desired/final, or was it just missed during the implementation of the new TI button?
