Hi Martin,
great thank you!! I now got exactly what I wanted. As you said the support for this chart type isn´t ideal yet. For example you can´t set some chart properties like the "show zero origin for value axis" here, so if you for example have values that go into millions the chart displays the forecast and CI too small.
I hope that this is something which will be improved in one of the next releases.
Thank you and best Regards
Tim

Tim,
Correct, you need to duplicate the exploration view. Support for the CI isn't ideal yet and the chart needs the information set in the forecast panel.
In terms of display, sometimes you need to select or click on one of the data points (on the line) to display the CI envelope.

Hi Stuart,
I´m getting closer! The chart type only works if you duplicate the Exploration View and then change the chart type.
Right now I have the correct chart type, but it doesn´t show the confidence interval.... But when I look at the data from the single data points, I can see that the CI is also part of the data point (see screenshot).
Do you have an idea why it is not shown?
Thanks and regards
Tim

Tim,
In order to display the CI envelop in a chart, you need to first save the envelop values in TM1 (see the advanced tab in the Forecasting panel).
1. On the advanced tab of the Predictive Forecasting panel, save the predicted values to a TM1 location (specific the dimension, version and members). Remember that the charts work with data in TM1.
2. Select the Exploration view that you've been using to forecast
3. Select 'Duplicate'
4. 'Pivot' the rows and columns
5. Change to a 'Line Chart'.

Hi Declan,
thank you that would be a nice workaround.
I tried to do exact same steps like they are mentioned in the tutorial to try this, but unfortunately I don´t get the same result. I only get the line chart for the actual values without Forecast....Is there a trigger or something like that so that the line chart knows when it has to behave different?
I´m on PAW 2.0.62 On-Prem.
Do you have an idea?
Thanks and regards,
Tim

Hi Tim,
There is a "special" chart type that appears from the Line Chart after you do forecasting which gives exactly what I think you are looking for.
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/planning-analytics/2.0.0?topic=ft-forecasting-tutorial-step-5-forecasting-data-line-visualization-1
The documentation example is on the sample model but you can do exactly the same steps with your own data/model and get the chart to show up with a confidence range.
You need to follow the steps exactly, and If I recall correctly that includes your "Actuals" being on a different member slice to where you put your "Forecast" i.e. a version/scenario dimension.
I hope that the functionality of the standard line chart gets expanded so we can set it up ourselves to have these "bands" etc but at the minute we can get to it but it feels a bit clunky and its difficult to set it up prior to the users doing their "Forecasting".
Thanks,
Declan

Hi Community,
does anyone of you know if it´s possible to show a confidence interval from an AI Forecast in a PAW chart?
So if you set up the new forecast feature you can have a preview of the forecast where you have also the confidence interval in the chart.
But if you save the forecast there is no chart type to show exactly this.
Please see screenshots attached.
