  • 1.  PAW "An unexpected error has occurred" error message

    Posted Mon October 26, 2020 09:06 AM
    Hello
I have recently upgraded to PAW SC57 running on Linux.
Since the upgrade I am getting the error : "An unexpected error has occurred" when trying to logon.
I noticed this knowledge base article : https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/unexpected-error-has-occurred-error-message-shows-when-new-user-attempts-access-planning-analytics-workspace

I tried the command : docker exec -u root -it bss chown -R pauser:pagroup /opt/harmony/bss/wlp/usr/servers/defaultServer/db
    but no luck.

Can anyone provide any details on trying to troubleshoot this vague error message please ?.
    Kind Regards

I've seen that a few times, it is most often when the TM1 server with the port number defined in the config settings as the security server isn't running, once the server is started the error goes away, of course it could be something completely different.

    Hi Nick,

I've had this issue before recently for existing users as well, although it was not on version 57.  I found that running the fix in the link you sent and rebooting the workspace server did resolve the issue for a particular user that had the issue,  however, that seemed to affect other users who were previously fine (same message).  Rebooting the workspace server again solved the issue for those other users.  We have not had the issue come back since.

    Hi Nick,

You may want to run the command "docker ps" (using a Linux terminal) to see whether all PAW containers are running or not.
If you see a container which cannot start or keeps restarting, you will its logs by running the command "docker logs <Container ID>".
The Container ID can be found in the first column after you run "docker ps". These few steps should give you a better understanding about the error: "An unexpected error has occurred".

    Best regards,
    Kong

    Hi Nick,

I think you should run the command "docker ps" (using a Linux terminal) to see whether there is a PAW container which cannot start or keeps restarting.
You can also use the command "docker logs <Container ID>" to view the logs of the container which has an issue. The Container ID can be found in the first column after you run the command "docker ps".

These few steps should help you better understand the error: "An unexpected error has occurred".

    Hi Nick,

We also ran into this error. Did you manage to solve it?

    Kind regards,
    Mario
