OpEx and CapEx Actuals from Hyperion Essbase (moving to Oracle ERP)

We're currently looking at a implementing an ERP solution that will change how we load financial data, so I'm very interested in reading about other users.

While we work on that, our current process is very simple and manual. Corp Fin produces a GL file each month on the 5th business day and places a copy in a file share. The TBMA has access to the file share, downloads the file and loads it into Apptio. The GL file was not produced for the purpose of feeding Apptio. We implemented logic in Apptio to select the data elements we needed for our own reports.

The main use of this data currently is to operationalize the monthly cost center financial reconciliation process.

    Hi Juan Jose,

Thank you for your participation! You're probably seeing a pattern with my responses to our other participants, but I'd like to see if we can get a few more details:

    • Can you provide us with the names of your current and future ERP systems?
    • Would Corp Fin be willing to share with us the name of the report or some details about the query they are using to produce the GL file?
    • Could you provide us with a list of the data elements that are used to support your Apptio reporting? (Of course, I'm just looking for column names, not the data itself.)
    • Does the file include Actuals/Budget/Forecast data? CapEx too?

    Thank you!

    Ken

We are migrating from a legacy outsourced hyperion essbase platform to an internally managed Oracle ERP

The data elements we use for reporting are: Year, Month, Cost Center, Cost Center Description, Account, Account
Description, Project Number, Journal Entry Number, Journal Entry Name, Amount, Units/Hours

This monthly file only includes Opex and Capex actuals. Budget and forecast data are manual files with similar columns we load once that budget or forecast is approved
