  • 1.  Onlog columns documentation

    Posted 24 days ago

(Since my previous 2 posts on the serial columns failed to post, I wonder about this one.)

    Hi Family.

Is there any coherent and correct documentation on the columns in the output of onlog?  The HCL pages I've found have on OK start for the 6-column record header but seem to be wrong on the additional columns. For example, on an HDELETE log record, the doc lists 5 very reasonable columns but in the actual output I see 6.  Or is the actual record header 7 columns?

Oh, I almost forgot: The docs I found are:

I wonder if anyone has produced a genuine document on how to read onlog.

I tried checking out Oninit.com for this and Lester Knutsen may have left a trail of this.

My motivation: I have been requested to find out who deleted a row from some table a few days ago. I need to be able to prove that this data just ain't there.

    Thanks much, Folks!

    Jacob,

As far as I can see, the HDELETE record is documented pretty accurate.
I have total 9 fields, i.e. 6 for a header, and 3 extra columns, for tblspace, rowid and slotlen.

    Hello together,

the HDELETE record is documented pretty accurate, but ADDITEM/DELITEM seems to be old (6 extra colums, 5 in documentation).
TRUNCATE record for example does not exist in documentation. So the documentation seems to be not up to date...

    Cheers,
    Markus
