  • 1.  Object Change Date vs File Change Date

    Posted 08/06/24 09:55 AM

Here is a conversation I had this morning.  I have looked and I cannot find a definitive answer as to why these dates are not the same.

When I look at the object from WRKOBJPDM and take option 8, it displays the object change date of 07/29/24. When I take option 5 to display the file description, I see the file change date of 03/17/18.  I agree that seems inconsistent, but these are two different types of dates.  I have looked and cannot find a quick answer. When I SQL the data, I see the same dates for OBJECT vs TABLE.

Also, where would I look in the system audit logs to tell me why the object has a change date of 07/9/24.  Our auditors look for any changes.

Actually you may not see anything easily enough in the audit records and this is the explanation why:  https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=i-relationship-object-change-datetime-audit-records

I think it also helps to explain why the 'object' change date may differ from the 'file' change date.
