    I am new to IBM AIX and I want to send mail from the system.

    But it is giving me following error;

    "Failed to connect <smtpserver>"

    So I tried to check this using "tn <smtpserver> 3535" and it told me "unknown host <smtpserver>".

    But whenever I try telnet using Windows machine it connects successfully.

    So I checked for sendmail service and it is active.

    Will you please help me resolving this?

    Thanks & Regards,
    Ajit

    are you able to ping <smtpserver>?
    if not - did you setup your DNS proper?

    Port "3535" is very unusual to run a smtp-server (which normally runs on port 25).

    Did you setup the smarthost (DS-Entry) in your sendmail.cf?

    Cheers,

    Also I don't know how to setup DNS or smarthost (DS-Entry) in sendmail.cf file.

    Even I don't know how to find out the full host name.

    Will you please provide me more details about this?

    I'll be grateful to you.
