I am not sure, but maybe this will be little helpful, you must have another X-system server (linux, solaris, whatever with X): on your AIX define variable:

    1. export DISPLAY=<your.another.system.with.X-server>:0.0

On another station (this with X):

    1. xhost +

Then on your AIX try to run the application. I do not have conditions for testing it, so I'll be thankful if you write the result and exact steps if it works :)

    AIXwindows Programming Guide
Appendix E. The X Virtual Frame Buffer

    Overview
The AIX X server has been enhanced to support the X Virtual Frame Buffer technology. The X Virtual Frame Buffer (XVFB) allows the X server to initialize and run without the presence of any physical graphics adapter. In the past, the X server required one or more graphics adapters in order to run and would exit with an error if none were present.

But do display an application to a different X server you simply point at the other Xserver.

    xterm -display host:0 &

You can also start VNCserver and login through a vncviewer and start your application.
