I have an Aix 5.3 system at TL 04. I am not able to set the no_reserve policy
to a disk device that is presented to it,

    bash-3.2# lsattr -El hdisk160 -a reserve_policy
lsattr: 0514-528 The "reserve_policy" attribute does not exist in the predefined
    device configuration database.

I have updated the current system to a concluding service pack 5300-04-CSP.

Should I upgrade it to the latest technology level for this to work?

    Thanks,
    Kannan

Is your hdisk160 a PCM friend or not?

I fixed that issue by installing a vendor specific driver.
