On my Pover Virtual Server (PVS) i installed samba (from Toolbox)
1) smbd daemon startup and running (/etc/rc.d/init.d/smbd start)
2) nmbd daemon startup (/etc/rc.d/init.d/nmbd start) and shutdown with follow log:

It's possible that issue is related to cloud environment where server are running.
