IBM just released AIX 7.1 TL1 SP1 and AIX 6.1 TL7 SP1 and VIOS 2.2.1.1, firstly I updated NIM server to AIX 7.1 TL1 SP1, and then define VIOS mksysb resource, but got the following error when define spot from VIOS mksysb,

0042-001 nim: processing error encountered on "master":
0042-103 m_mkspot: unable to restore from

nim -0 showres VIOS_mksysb is working well, only could not restore spot from mksysb. and I found VIOS 2.2.1.1 mksysb image is around 3GB, but VIOS 2.2.0.12 mksysb image is around 3.6GB.

    Anyone got same problem? Thanks,

So I look in the second DVD and found in /cdrom/usr/sys/inst.images a third mksysb_image that should follow the first two in the first DVD. After that a restore -Tvf vios211_mksysb didn't ask anymore for a second volume and simply finished listing the complete VIOS mksysb image.
After that the creation of the spot went ok but received the following warning:

Checking filesets and network boot images for SPOT "vios221_spot".
This may take several minutes ...

warning: 0042-175 c_ckspot: An unexpected result was returned by the
    "/usr/lpp/bos.sysmgt/nim/methods/c_mkbooti" command:

    mkbooti45: 13828096 Killed
warning: 0042-175 c_mkbooti: An unexpected result was returned by the
    "/usr/sbin/bosboot" command:

    /usr/sbin/bosboot1883: 10027176 Killed
    /usr/sbin/bosboot16: kernsize /= 1024: bad number

ANY CLUE on what the problem might be now? Could it be that my NIM master is at level 7100-00-03 only?

I've hit the same problem with the SPOT creation.
    "/usr/sbin/bosboot16: kernsize /= 1024: bad number"

My NIM server is on AIX7100-00-03-1115.

    Kind regards

you can copy your vios iso images (dvd1&2) to /tmp on hmc and run installios... you will be followed step by step asked for several questions ....
