    General availability was 12/2011 + 5 years (enhanced lifecycle policy) would mean it reaches EOS next year.
    That would mean it is a poor choice for upgrading at the moment.

    On the other hand the v8.4.x Launcher Hypervisor Edition for AIX was released 06/2013, but I am not sure how that works out with EOS date...

    The EOS for 8.4.x is missing/ not yet announced. If it is next year an upgrade to that version would be pointless.

    They will maybe  make a distiction  ( not sure about that )   between 8.4.0.x and 8.4.1.x. ( 2 différents versions to me )

    In all case if you have upgrade plan today the version to go is definitly the last one : V9.0 .
